TAWANG LAUNCHES SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

NEW DELHI- YouthNet in partnership with NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) and the Government of Arunachal Pradesh launched the country’s first home stay skill development programme under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). YouthNet informed that this pilot programme aims to train 25 women candidates in Tawang who are either running Homestays or want to start their own Homestay in near future. The training to be followed up with setting up of Homestay for the participants and registration on various online portals. The training program is for 50 days which will cover basic hospitality, how to set up and maintain a Homestay, marketing of their Homestay and customer service. Lezo Putsure, Director YouthNet said that 25 seats have been allocated for Arunachal Pradesh and 175 seats have been allocated for Nagaland. The Nagaland home stay programmes are scheduled to being in October 2017. The idea is to be able to empower young people with employment opportunities and also increase tourism growth within the North East.
